No preview 8-15-07

There is no preview as of this time. Just a stupid ******* count-down and a page that says "4dventure"

Are they pimping 4th Ed. already? I thought we had until after 2010 for that. But, I guess it really doesn't much apply to me as I have only a few books anyway. Still, there's no reason to block out the whole ******-******* site to do that insipid counter! Not everyone RPGs, you dolts.

I am not ******* amused, ******, and frankly never have been amused by self-important marketing gits who believe that the entire world revolves around their "next big thing".

"ooooh, let's disrupt everyone so they can all see how ******* clever I wish I were! They'll love it and thank me for the privilege!" Yeah, you might want to guess again and stick all this Gleemax crap where the sun doesn't shine.

Give me my minis preview you twit. Oh, and after you get done sticking Gleemax there, stick the rest of 4th Ed. up there as well.

What the heck is "Gleemax"? I noticed the site change but i still dont what Gleemax is....is it a game? not another flop like Dreamblade i hope.....................

4th ED. is upon us as we all now really know. I'm not impressed and really not impressed that it will be DI friendly , which means Yack unfriendly. I want hardcovers not cheap print outs!
WOTC you just shot yourself in the foot and destroyed my fav mag Dungeon I'm not impressed.
This DI will be more computer friendly so that it will attract more pc gamers which to me means more power gamers (no offence just stating my opion), which also to ME is a negative.

Well, that is a countdown to Gen Con. I do see the 4, so they may be pimping 4th ed at gen con, but it even says it's in the convention center in indianapolis. I kind of hope they're putting that up because they're giving us extra stuff to check out at gen con. I guess we'll see in a few hours...

Yeah, I was half-asleep and all-hung over when I typed that up. What's funnier is that now that the countdown clock's up, and we could see the preview if there was one, the freaking SITE CRASHED! That's just stupid. NOW it becomes frustrating.

Once again WotC drops the digital ball.

How can a company so enthusiastically in support of its own "Digital Initiative" so completely underestimate the drain of resources that said initiative would create?!

Wake the **** up, people! You're putting the digital cart on before the digital horse...

Well, it looks like this next wednesday night will be our first preview of DoD1, barring the GenCon pocket minis.

I'm just hoping that the first couple previews skirt the "pocket minis". Such a slow start after all the news from GenCon will hurt.

Yeah for sure. I would hate to wait a week or two for something I've yet to have seen.

I just realized that I never answered Redskullz question about Gleemax. Sorry Red, all this 4th Ed. stuff has had me turned around since it started.

Gleemax is supposed to be WotC's answer to Facebook, MySpace, etc. It is, in theory, the place where D&D players will go to give WotC free ideas and get their virtual products. It's currently working on replacing the old WotC boards, although I think those might still be functional. To be honest, I never bought into it, and that's saying something since I've been wanting features that WotC will be including the in the first issues of Cyber-Dragon and Cyber-Dungeon.

It sounds like a cool idea, but I don't think they realize most of the people on the WotC boards post about their BoEF prestige class, and then 50 other people telling them it's stupid/awesome. I don't think they'll glean much free ideas from the boards. They may want to keep their R&D team on payroll. But the myspace/facebook thing sounds cool, because I search on myspace a lot for people with gaming interests in my area, and the functionality's stupid. If I can just go in, check out some people playing ____ed D&D, down the street that I never met, send them a message and have a game going soon after I'm all for it. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, though. What sounds like a good idea to me is usually followed by heavy disappointment. Which is why I'm so damn negative all the time. That way, if I'm wrong, and something's cool, I win. And if I'm right, and it sucks.....Well, I told you so :)

I just wish that the effort going into 4th Ed. had been applied to upgrading 3.5 and making a new game.

We've already got facebook, myspace and other social-networking sites. WotC are getting in late on this idea. Folks probably aren't going to want yet another page to update and watch over....

Well, Pinky has expressed my present feelings about the way WOTC is heading to a T.

And to think, I thought I was overdoing it.

What really sucks is that I want so very badly to believe that things will be great for 4.0 and the digital initiative...I really do. But we've just seen too many "goofs" on the WWW-side to give WotC any credibility here.
