Say if you want to use a totally different base for a mini, say a dwarven forge floor tile. Would that mini still be "legel" to play in tournies and such?

How much of a pain in the ass would it be to cut a mini off it's base, flock the base, then glue said mini back on? Or should I just flock without the removing of the minis? Also, do you use wood glue with a small amount of water for the flocking?

well... there are lots of tutorials on basing, but your above mentioned method is the most popular.
paint around (feet) base w/ diluted glue then dip or sprinkle on the flock.
DISCLAIMER: Have never done it, just know that is how yack does it.

Darkfather's also told me the way he made the bases match is fish-tank carven (see his thread on maxminis or hordlings).

-Dilute wood-filler w/ water and splotch/stipple(don't know the correct term) on the base w/ a paintbrush to give the base texture. Let dry.
-Paint Black
-drybrush dark grey, then light(er) grey, then white.

cheers,
kid

yup thekid is right in the way I do it. I don't cut the mini off just glue around it and use flock, static grass, stones, sand, gravel or whatever you want. Lets just say I do not own a mini that has just a plan black base.

The only reason i would cut a mini off its base would be for a very advanced base job...like a guy standing on 3 large rocks.
