| Figured this could be a fun topic! Where in the realms are you playing right now or did play? I have a small group right now in Tethyr and they came from Mosstone and have just upset the wood elves from the Wealdath. | |

| Waterdeep and Cormyr are great places... I was afraid to use them because they have almost to much material on them. Plus I'm a semi new 3.5 DM I have a feeling my players are going to want to head south... | |

| Heh, I keep forgetting to bring a map to our sessions, so the running joke is that they are in the Land of No Map, which is bordered by the Mapless Kingdom. | |

| hahahahaha good one, what I try to do is copy or really roughly draw the area on paper and keep it at the gaming table. | |

that must be the same place thekids player Borric Darkmoore is from as he has no background story well he does but just know location. So we call it the "parts unknown" | |

| When I play in the realms (lately it's been generic due to problems with my FR books being stolen) I usually keep near areas I know a lot from novels. So mainly around the sword coast areas, with ventures to different places that catch my interest (that aren't too bulky to read up on for a short venture). Soon I'm going to run waterdeep, and take it to undermountain for much fun. | |

| I've run successful campaigns in:
Waterdeep (almost 2 yrs in Real Life, including lots of forays to UM) Cormyr Sembia Dalelands Moonsea area The Shaar/Great Rift area
By far the easiest to run (IMO) are campaigns set in Cormyr/Sembia/the Vast...avoiding the Dalelands... |

| I'm wanting my next FR campaign to have heavy involvement from the Shadovar....best thing to come to the Realms ni a long time, so I have it narrowed to somewhere near the Anaurach Desert. | |

| Really? I don't care for the Shade stuff at all...in fact, that part of the recent realms history is excluded in our (upcoming) campaign... |

| I didn't feel there was a need for yet another mysterious type of magic to be introduced...that and my guys prefer a "simpler" Realms - reminiscent of the novels from the 90's...might even rewind time and set things just after the godswar... |
