I have seen this question asked sooo many times:

Q: Does my dex modifier get applied to my ranged attack?

A: Yes it does, your Str does not!

If you have a bow or longbow of STR +2 you can add 2points of damage from your your strenght bonus, if you have 14 or more STR. In that example, a 16 STR character would only add +2 damage from his +3.To get the +3, he would need to buy a bow of STR+3.

These are non-magical items, by the way.

Indeed! Thanks for sharing Sir Bozak. There have been many times that newer players got confused about this.

I was actually banned from WOTC for arguing with a mod about this. The mod said that the dex wasn't added.

Actually - your question is a little vague. Ranged attacks include both thrown and misslie weapons and the STR bonus can be added to both BAB and/or Damage. As Sir Bozak pointed out your STR bonus can be added to missile attack damage made with the right equipment, i.e. Mighty Compound Bows. Your STR bonus is also added to damage with thrown weapons and, with the proper feat, can be added to your thrown weapon BAB as well. ( I believe it is Brutal Throw but I don't have my books in front of me.)

So - to be a little more complete:

DEX bonus is added to BAB on ranged weapons
STR bonus is added to Damage on thrown weapons and missile attacks made with Mighty Composite Bows( to the limit of the Bow)
STR bonus can be added to thrown weapons with the proper feat.

Hope this clears it up a liitle for those who were inquiring.

Thank you for the post and you are very much correct. I should have clarified the question more.

Again, thanks for taking the time to elaborate.
