The gameboard is "The Pyramid" custom 3d map that is viewable in the Cartography section here :)

I won't ever get to that level, but I love to collect information! Okay here is the brief instructions for constructing a base like this one: 1. I wanted to use this fig for ddm so i made a 2"X2" base out of blue foam. 2. I cut a piece of basswood to add some strength to the base of the 2X2 blue foam and glued them together. 3. Made some rough cuts to make the foam look like rock. 4. I then "imprinted" the figure into the foam to leave impressions of where the feet would be. 5. Base paint with black and went over drybrushing with 2 shades of lighter grey. 6. The the treasure pile making began. I was able to buy some "Sparkle Glue" from walmart that contained both silver and gold glitter. Hard to see in the pics, but each glitter piece is almost exactly the proper scale for a 25 mm human sized figure. (one glitter = one round coin) 7. I added some colored beads and cheap earing parts/gems. (pressed into the glitter glue. 8. Repeat steps 6 and 7. 9. Glue in the feet of the figure into the imprints. I used two part lepage epoxy for this. 10. Repeat step 6 around the feet of the figure.

| LOL...yeah the glitter glue looks pretty sweet....you could definitely get more definition to the coin pile if you could find glitter of the right size that are silver, gold and copper. (which i could not find when i did this project) Using actual glitter would allow you to do an inkwash to further enhance the detail. You would need to use PVA glue (white or brown) to apply glitter of this type. | |
