The 2008 Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Constructed Championship will be held at Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana, offering $5,000 in cash prizes!

Invitations and Eligibility

All players in good standing with the DCI who hold an invitation to the 2008 D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship are eligible to compete in the event. The invitation list is compiled by the following criteria:

* 2007 D&D Miniatures Constructed Champion
* 2008 D&D Miniatures Limited Champion
* Top 2 finishers from each D&D Miniatures 2008 Constructed Championship Series Qualifier
* Top 4 finishers in each D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship Series Open (details below)
* Top 50 D&D Miniatures worldwide DCI Standard ranked players, announced July 2, 2008
* Top 50 D&D Miniatures worldwide DCI Vintage ranked players, announced July 2, 2008

Format

* Standard-constructed format
* 200-point warbands, Assault format
* Warband lists are required
* Check www.thedci.com for Standard-format rules

Tournament Length

* 8 Swiss rounds - 60 minutes per round
* 6 Rounds will be played on Saturday
* 2 Rounds plus the Top 4 will be played on Sunday

Battle Maps

Battle Maps for each round will be provided on-site.

* Round 1: Dwarven Outpost
* Round 2: Jungle Temple
* Round 3: Flooded Ruins
* Round 4: Dwarven Outpost
* Round 5: Jungle Temple
* Round 6: Flooded Ruins
* Round 7: Dwarven Outpost
* Round 8: Jungle Temple
* Top 4: For each match up in the Top 4, the higher seeded player will either:
o Choose which of the above 3 battle maps will be used in the match-up – OR –
o Give the choice of the above 3 battles maps to his or her opponent.

Advancement

* All players may participate in all 8 Swiss rounds.
* The top 4 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the top 4 single-elimination finals on Sunday August 17, 2008

Top 4

* Top 4 matches will have no time limit. However, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 75 minutes.
* Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.

* $2,000 USD
* Exclusive hand-painted miniature available only at the Championship

Second place

* $1,000 USD
* Exclusive hand-painted miniature available only at the Championship

Third-Fourth place

* $500 USD
* Exclusive hand-painted miniature available only at the Championship

Fifth-Eighth place

* $250 USD

Ninth-Sixteenth place

* D&D Miniatures product

The top 2 finishers each receive a 4-day Admission Pass to Gen Con

All cash prizes are paid by check approximately four weeks after the Championship.

* 32K, Competitive REL
* All Universal Tournament Rules and D&D Miniatures Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
* Players must bring pen, paper, map sheets, and appropriate counters

D&D Miniatures Championship Open Tournaments

On Thursday, August 14th and Friday, August 15th at Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast will host the final chances for you to win an invitation to the Championship: the D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship Series Open events.

This tournament is open to all players who do not hold an invitation to the Championship. The top 4 finishers after the Swiss rounds (number based on attendance) will win invitations to the D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship on Saturday, August 16th.

Top 4 instead of top 8...lame
Winner doesn't get to design a mini.....lame
The fact that there will prolly be about 10 guys who don't make top 4 solely because of tiebreakers....priceless.

Ya and they are trying to get fresh blood into the game?

Oh man you don't get to make your own mini any more? That was the best thing about winning the championship! I mean the money is cool but for a 15 year old kid the thought of having my own mini is just awesome!

They said that designing a mini would be part of the vintage championship prize now.
