What's the easiest way to get a small piece of a paperclip shoved into a mini for modding? Hopefully one that doesn't involve me buying anything lol.

I prefer a different method...i use small pins instead of paperclips. I use a pair of pliers to firmly hold the pin with 1/8" of the pins point sticking out. Once both holes have been "piloted" take another pin and cut a 1/4" piece out of the center. Use another pin to apply some 5 minute epoxy or superglue. Use the pliers once again to push the 1/4" piece into the predrilled hole on the arm or whatever you are pinning. Apply a bit more epoxy into the other hole and insert the arm back in place!

If you do want to get into more extensive modeling you can buy a "pin vise" from ebay or hobby shops for $10...basically a hand drill for tiny drillbits (1/128"-1/32")

Thanks...I tried the heating and wasn't able to get any good results. Zenthrus at Maxminis suggested a Pin Vise as well. Nice to hear that it's cheap. I'll be looking for one at the FLGS Friday.

A pin vise is essential.

If I'd had one when I was working with my GW minis 15 years ago, I might not have quit the hobby.

And when you're really bored, you can bore holes in various substances (plastic boxes, CD Jewel Cases, coins, etc.).

I found one at the FLGS for 9 or 10. I haven't had a chance to experiment much with it, but I have some cool ideas.
